Who will switch on the 2009 Illuminations?

Blackpool and BBC Radio 2 have announced the name of the mystery celebrity who will be flicking the famous switch to mark the start of the 2009 Blackpool Illuminations.

Well the wait is over the Blackpool Illuminations Switch On Celebrity for 2009 is ´The Chatty Man´ Alan Carr!

Since winning the BBC New Comedy Award for Stand Up in 2001 Alan has become one ofthe Hottest cemedians in the Britain. Alan co hosts Channel 4´s The Saturday Night Project, he also hosts hos own chat show Alan Carr´s Celebrity Ding Dong and recently we have seen him as the star of The Chatty Man

Alan has an afinity with Blackpool or as he calls it the Las Vegas of the North. His father was the manager of Blackpool ´ Football Club! It has been reported that he is soo excited to be pressing the Big Button to Turn On Blackpool Illuminations

The free concert during which the guest will throw the switch marks the start of Blackpool's Big Switch On Weekend. We hope that thousands of fans of the celebrity, and of Blackpool, will join us in the celebrations and that they stay to enjoy all the free events Blackpool will be hosting throughout the weekend and indeed during the Illuminations Season.
